Terms & Conditions
Redline Remaps Ltd – Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to ECU remapping, vehicle tuning, diagnostics, ECU and module programming, coding and other software services supplied by Redline Remaps Ltd.
By booking or authorising work, the customer confirms that they have read and accepted these terms.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects a consumer's statutory rights.
1. Vehicle Condition
ECU remapping increases or changes the demands placed on certain engine, drivetrain and vehicle components.
Components can fail on standard vehicles as a result of age, mileage, wear, maintenance history, previous modifications or existing mechanical and electrical faults. A remap may also expose weaknesses that were already present but were less noticeable under the vehicle's standard calibration.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that their vehicle is mechanically suitable for tuning.
Vehicles should be correctly serviced and maintained using appropriate lubricants, fluids, parts and fuel. Any known mechanical or electrical problems should be repaired before tuning is carried out.
Redline Remaps may refuse or postpone work where we believe the condition of the vehicle makes tuning inappropriate.
2. Pre-Existing Mechanical & Electrical Faults
Unless caused directly by a failure to perform our service with reasonable care and skill, Redline Remaps is not responsible for the failure of vehicle components resulting from age, wear, pre-existing defects, poor maintenance, previous modification, misuse or another cause unrelated to our work.
Examples may include, but are not limited to:
- Turbochargers
- Injectors and fuel systems
- Clutches and dual-mass flywheels
- Engines and internal engine components
- Automatic and manual transmissions
- DPF, EGR, SCR/AdBlue and other emissions systems
- Sensors and actuators
- Cooling systems
- Boost hoses and intercoolers
- Electrical components and control modules
A component failing after a remap does not, by itself, establish that the remap caused the failure.
Equally, these terms do not exclude our responsibility where damage has been caused by work that we have not performed with reasonable care and skill.
3. Diagnostic Checks
A diagnostic scan may be carried out before tuning. This is intended to identify stored faults and obvious problems that may make the vehicle unsuitable for tuning.
A standard diagnostic scan is not a complete mechanical inspection and cannot identify every existing or developing fault.
Where a more detailed assessment is required, additional diagnostic work or data logging may be recommended. This may be chargeable and will be agreed with the customer before it is carried out.
We may decline to remap a vehicle where diagnostic information indicates that further mechanical investigation or repair is advisable.
4. Stage 1 and Performance Remapping
Our Stage 1 calibrations are intended for mechanically sound vehicles using standard or appropriate supporting hardware.
Calibration is carried out using parameters we consider appropriate for the engine, ECU, drivetrain and vehicle application.
A Stage 1 remap should not be interpreted as being approved, recommended or warranted by the original vehicle manufacturer.
Where we consider the requested performance level inappropriate for the vehicle or fitted hardware, we reserve the right to refuse the requested calibration or recommend suitable supporting modifications.
5. Power & Torque Figures
Any quoted horsepower, torque, percentage gain or performance figure is an estimate unless a specific measured result has been expressly agreed.
Actual results vary between vehicles because of factors including:
- Engine condition
- Mileage
- Fuel quality
- ECU/software version
- Factory tolerances
- Previous modifications
- Ambient conditions
- Drivetrain losses
- Supporting hardware
A vehicle with significant age, mileage or existing performance loss may not achieve the same output as a new or mechanically perfect example of the same model.
6. Fuel Economy
Any quoted MPG or fuel-saving improvement is an estimate and is not guaranteed.
Fuel consumption depends on many factors outside our control, including driving style, journey type, traffic, vehicle load, tyre pressures, weather conditions, fuel quality, maintenance and vehicle condition.
Economy-focused tuning can improve efficiency in suitable circumstances, but additional available power or torque can also increase fuel consumption if used regularly.
7. Insurance & Vehicle Modifications
The customer is responsible for informing their insurer of any ECU remapping, performance tuning or other vehicle modification where required by their insurance policy.
Redline Remaps is not responsible for any insurance cancellation, refusal of cover, increased premium or claim issue caused by a customer's failure to disclose a modification.
The customer is also responsible for determining whether a modification affects any finance, lease, manufacturer warranty or other contractual arrangement applying to the vehicle.
8. Manufacturer Warranty
ECU remapping, coding, programming and other modifications may affect the manufacturer's warranty or another warranty applying to the vehicle.
Warranty decisions are made by the relevant manufacturer, dealer or warranty provider.
Redline Remaps cannot guarantee that a modification will be undetectable or that a manufacturer or warranty provider will accept a future warranty claim.
9. Test Drives
Where appropriate, a test drive may be carried out to assess vehicle operation following the service and to check for faults or abnormal behaviour.
Redline Remaps will not deliberately exceed applicable public-road speed limits during testing.
A public-road test drive therefore cannot be used to verify maximum vehicle speed, acceleration times or performance requiring speeds or driving conditions that would be unlawful on a public road.
10. Emissions-Control Systems
DPF, GPF/OPF, EGR, catalytic converter, SCR/AdBlue and related systems form part of the emissions-control equipment on many vehicles.
Vehicles used on public roads must comply with applicable vehicle construction, emissions and roadworthiness requirements.
Redline Remaps will only undertake software modifications affecting emissions-control functionality where we are satisfied that the work is appropriate and legally permitted for the vehicle's intended application.
Certain modifications may only be suitable for dedicated competition, motorsport, agricultural, specialist or other non-road applications.
Describing a vehicle or modification as "off-road use only" does not by itself make an otherwise unlawful modification legal.
The customer must accurately disclose the intended use of the vehicle. Redline Remaps reserves the right to refuse any emissions-related modification where there is uncertainty about legality or intended road use.
For normal road-going vehicles, faults involving emissions-control systems should be correctly diagnosed and the required emissions equipment repaired or restored to proper operation.
11. Customer-Supplied Information & Modifications
The customer must provide accurate information about the vehicle and disclose any relevant previous modifications, tuning, mechanical faults or software changes known to them.
Redline Remaps is not responsible for problems resulting from inaccurate or withheld information.
Where another tuner or third party has previously modified the ECU or vehicle software, additional work may be required before we can safely carry out the requested service.
12. Original ECU Software
Where practicable and supported by the ECU and programming method, the original ECU software will be read or otherwise obtained before tuning.
The ability to restore a vehicle to its previous software state depends on the ECU, programming method, vehicle software version and any changes subsequently made by manufacturers, dealers or third parties.
Dealer software updates may overwrite an aftermarket remap.
Reinstallation following a dealer update may be chargeable depending on the work required.
13. Problems Following Our Work
If the customer believes that a fault or problem has arisen as a result of work carried out by Redline Remaps, they must contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide details of the issue.
Where appropriate, Redline Remaps must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle and investigate the alleged problem before remedial work is carried out by another party.
A fault occurring after tuning, programming or coding does not by itself establish that our work caused the fault.
Where investigation indicates that the problem results from an unrelated mechanical or electrical fault, wear, a pre-existing condition, poor maintenance, previous modification or another cause outside our responsibility, any further diagnostic or repair work may be chargeable.
Where our service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill, the customer will be entitled to the remedies provided by applicable consumer law.
14. Third-Party Diagnosis & Repairs
Where reasonably possible, customers should contact Redline Remaps before instructing another business to alter, remove, overwrite or repair work that they believe is connected with a service supplied by us.
We may request further diagnosis or an independent mechanical assessment where the cause of a problem is unclear.
Redline Remaps will not normally be responsible for third-party diagnostic, repair, recovery, travel or other costs that have been incurred without our prior agreement unless we are legally responsible for those costs.
Nothing in this section prevents a customer from taking reasonable action necessary to protect their safety or prevent further vehicle damage.
15. Returning a Vehicle to Standard
Returning a correctly functioning tuned vehicle to its original software configuration is a separate service and may be chargeable.
The applicable price will be confirmed before the work is carried out.
If the vehicle is returned to standard because of an unrelated mechanical or electrical problem, no refund for the original tuning service will be due unless the customer has a statutory right to one.
Reinstallation of a remap following mechanical repairs, dealer software updates, ECU replacement or other subsequent changes to the vehicle is a separate service and may be chargeable.
Nothing in this section affects the customer's statutory rights where our original service was not performed with reasonable care and skill.
16. Refunds
Redline Remaps does not provide a voluntary money-back guarantee, trial period or change-of-mind refund on completed services.
Refunds, price reductions, repeat performance or other remedies will be provided only where required by applicable law or where expressly agreed by Redline Remaps in writing.
Where a service has been performed correctly and in accordance with the agreed specification, a customer's subsequent decision that they no longer want the remap, tuning, coding or software modification does not by itself entitle them to a refund.
Where the service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill, the customer retains all remedies available under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable legislation.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or restricts those statutory rights.
17. Distance & Off-Premises Cancellation Rights
Where a consumer enters into a contract by telephone, online, at their home or in another situation where the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 provide a statutory cancellation right, the applicable statutory cancellation period will apply.
For qualifying service contracts, this will normally be 14 days beginning after the contract is entered into.
Work Requested During the Cancellation Period
Where the customer wants Redline Remaps to begin work before the statutory cancellation period has expired, the customer must expressly request that the service begins during that period.
Where required by law, that request will be recorded in a durable form.
If the service is fully completed during the cancellation period following the customer's express request, and the customer has acknowledged that they will lose their cancellation right once the service has been fully performed, the statutory right to cancel that completed service will end.
If the customer validly cancels after requesting that work begins but before the service has been fully completed, the customer may be required to pay a proportionate amount for the work already supplied, where permitted by law.
Redline Remaps offers no additional cancellation period beyond any cancellation rights required by law.
18. No General Change-of-Mind Right
Except where a statutory cancellation right applies, Redline Remaps does not offer refunds or cancellation rights simply because a customer:
- Changes their mind after the service has been carried out
- Decides they no longer want the vehicle tuned
- Sells or intends to sell the vehicle
- Wishes to return the vehicle to standard
- Is dissatisfied with an estimated rather than guaranteed power or economy improvement
- Experiences an unrelated mechanical or electrical fault
- Has a modification overwritten by a dealer or another third party
This section does not apply where the customer is exercising a statutory right arising from a breach of contract or a service that has not been performed with reasonable care and skill.
19. Gift Vouchers
Redline Remaps gift vouchers may be redeemed against eligible services subject to the conditions stated when the voucher is purchased.
Unless otherwise agreed:
- Only one voucher may be applied to a service
- Vouchers cannot be combined or stacked
- Vouchers have no standalone cash redemption value
- Any unused balance will not be paid in cash
- Vouchers must be declared when booking
- The voucher must be presented or otherwise verified before the service is carried out
- Vouchers are intended for private-customer services unless otherwise agreed
Redline Remaps does not offer voluntary refunds or exchanges for gift vouchers.
Any statutory cancellation or refund rights applying to the purchase of a voucher remain unaffected.
20. Software, Programming & Remapping Warranty
Redline Remaps does not provide a voluntary warranty covering the customer's engine, turbocharger, transmission, clutch, emissions equipment, electrical systems or any other vehicle component merely because tuning, programming or coding work has been performed.
Our legal responsibility relates to the service that we provide.
If our tuning, programming, coding or other service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill, the customer will have the remedies provided by applicable law.
We do not guarantee that unrelated mechanical or electrical components will continue operating for any particular period following our work.
No additional warranty, guarantee, free repair, free reinstallation or refund applies unless expressly confirmed by Redline Remaps in writing.
21. Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
Where applicable, Redline Remaps will perform services with reasonable care and skill as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Where the law requires repeat performance, a price reduction, refund or another remedy, the applicable statutory remedy will be provided.
No additional voluntary rights or remedies are offered unless expressly agreed by Redline Remaps in writing.
